Handel: "Delirio amoroso" with Francesca Lombardi Mazzulli

Handel's years of youth in Italy were among the most creative of his life. It was here that he created impressive works that left a powerful impression on the Italians and influenced the rest of his compositional œuvre.

These works include extensive, enormously extroverted solo cantatas for soprano. They are rarely heard, and unlike many other works by Handel from his Italian time, they have not yet regained the attention they deserve. Thus, "Delirio amoroso" is not a flowery title that we made up, but an extremely colourful work by a young composer who was full of esprit and ideas ...

Together with grandiose Italian soprano Francesca Lombardi Mazzulli, we will present the greatest of these cantatas, in a programme that is truly impressive. The soprano will perform the cantatas in costumes, with gestures, mimics and dramatic action.
